Digital Marketing for Small Businesses

There are lots of things you can do in terms of digital marketing for small businesses. Digita l marketing is about taking a marketing message and putting it online in digital format where a potential customer can hear you. Digital marketing can even fit the budget of a small business, because there are lots of things you can do for free!

Start with social media. Pick one social media site that fits your business and audience, and fill out a profile as professionally as possible. Then begin to populate your site with users. Invite your friends and family. Put links to your social media on your business cards, brochures, or anything you send out. Don't forget to include a link to your social media page in your email signature. Email signature is another free way that is often overlooked by small business owners. A lot of people have a signature, but do you have any marketing message in your signature? Does your email signature try to take a potential customer one step further through the sales funnel? You may have your website listed in your email signature, so a simple statement that says "Download a free whitepaper about how to use our widgets" may be just the call to action that makes your email reader actually want to go to your website. "Download a free whitepaper..." is your marketing message, not your web address listed.

Do you have a newsletter? A monthly newsletter into people's inbox will help you to put a message on a consistent basis into people's minds. Maybe your email recipient doesn't need your widget, she just bought one a month ago, but her aunt had admired her new widget, and so now she's forwarding her aunt your newsletter. Are you getting how this works?
